Panthers G Tomas Vokoun Selected to 2008 All-Star Game
Vokoun to Make Second Career All-Star Appearance

SUNRISE, Fla. – The National Hockey League announced today that Florida Panthers G Tomas Vokoun has been selected to play for the Eastern Conference at the 2008 NHL All-Star game, which will be played in Atlanta, GA on Sunday, Jan. 27.

Vokoun, 31, ranks among the NHL leaders with 39 games played (3rd), 1,106 saves (2nd), 19 wins (7th) and three shutouts (T-6th). He will be making his second All-Star appearance after representing the Western Conference at the 2004 All-Star game, stopping eight of 12 shots in the second period. 

 

Vokoun has played in 39 of the Panthers 44 games this season, making 30 or more saves on eight different occasions and 40 or more saves four times this season. He also has posted a 4-1 mark in shootouts this season, most recently leading the Panthers to a 3-2 shootout win over the Atlanta Thrashers last night.
