The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned forwards Darren Haydar, Jordan LaVallee and Colin Stuart, defensemen Joel Kwiatkowski and Boris Valabik, along with goaltender Ondrej Pavelec to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. Atlanta now has 22 players on its active roster (please see attachment), including 13 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders, with one player on Injured Reserve.
The Thrashers preseason record stands at 4-2-0 after defeating the Florida Panthers 4-1 on Wednesday night. Atlanta opened the preseason with back-to-back wins against the St. Louis Blues and New York Islanders before dropping two straight games to the Nashville Predators and St. Louis. The Thrashers defeated Nashville 3-2 in a shootout at Philips Arena on Tuesday night. Atlanta will close out its preseason schedule on Friday at Philips Arena against Florida (7:30 p.m.) and open the 2007-08 regular season campaign at home on Friday, Oct. 5 against the Washington Capitals (7:30 p.m.)
