Capitals to Host Caps Care Classic Monday, Oct. 1, at Springfield Golf and Country Club


ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals will hold their annual charity golf tournament, the Caps Care Classic, on Monday, Oct. 1, at the Springfield Golf and Country Club in Springfield, Va. The event, which begins with lunch at noon and a 1 p.m. shotgun start, includes an online auction (already underway at WashingtonCaps.com) and a dinner after the golf tournament. Willie O’Ree, the first black player in NHL history, will be in attendance at the event, which also includes Capitals players, coaches and management.

Directions: Take I-395 South toward Richmond. Take Exit 1B toward VA-644 West/Springfield. Take Exit 169 B/VA-644 W/Springfield. Travel approximately 3.5 miles. Make left immediately after sixth light (Carrleigh Parkway) into Springfield Golf and Country Club. If you’ve passed Rolling Road you’ve gone too far.

The Capitals continue their preseason schedule tonight, Friday, Sept. 28, when the team hosts Philadelphia at Verizon Center at 7 p.m. Washington closes out its preseason schedule at home against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, Sept. 30, at 5 p.m. All preseason games can be heard on WashingtonCaps.com and the team’s final preseason game against Ottawa will be broadcast live on the Capitals flagship station, new Talk Radio 3WT (1500 AM, 107.7 FM and 820 AM).

The Capitals open the 2007-08 season on Friday, Oct. 5, against the Atlanta Thrashers at 7:30 p.m. in Atlanta, Ga. The team’s home opener is set for Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. against the Carolina Hurricanes at the Verizon Center.
