FIREANTZ NAME TOMMY STEWART HEAD COACH

 

[FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.] The Fayetteville FireAntz of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) announced today that Tommy Stewart has been named Head Coach for of the club for the 2007-08 season.  Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Stewart, 32, joins the FireAntz after prior successful stints with the Florida Seals and Macon Trax.  In three years as a Head Coach, Stewart has taken his teams to playoff finals in each season.  He also has an excellent 95-61-13 regular season record for his career.  In 2003-04, his rookie season as a coach, he was named Coach of the Year, while coaching Macon, in the WHA2. 

"I'm really excited to be coming to a first-class organization from top to bottom."  Stewart added, "I am very relieved to come to a team that is solid on the business side as well as the hockey side."

The FireAntz will be holding a press conference to introduce Stewart to the media and fans the week of May 14th.  Further announcements will be made when they become finalized.
