Cam Abbott Named Oakley CHL Player Of The Week

BOSSIER CITY, LA — The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs today announced that Cam Abbott has been selected Oakley CHL Player of the week.  It's the first time the rookie forward has been named for such an honor.

Abbott had nine points in three road games last week, including a four goal performance against the Colorado Eagles en route to a 9-5 victory on Saturday night.  Abbott is the fourth Mudbug player to score four goals in a regulation game.  He's also the first rookie in Mudbugs history that's been able to accomplish such a feat.  His two goals against the Eagles on Wednesday night helped carry the Bugs to a 4-3 victory over the top team in the CHL.  The Cornell University graduate tallied three assists on Thursday night, aiding a 6-5 overtime comeback against the Rocky Mountain Rage.

"Cam has been working hard all season long and I'm glad to see his efforts recognized by the league," said Head Coach Scott Muscutt.

Abbott becomes the first Mudbugs forward selected as Oakley CHL Player of the week for the 2006-2007 season.  He follows goaltenders Ken Carroll and John DeCaro who were named for league honors earlier this year.  Carroll was nominated for Oakley CHL Goaltender of the week in October, while DeCaro took home Sherwood CHL Goaltender of the month for January.
