NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (September 12)- The Texas Brahmas of the Central Hockey League (CHL) announced Wednesday the signing of playmaker and enforcer, Robin Big Snake.
"Big Snake is going to make a huge impact for the Brahmas team and organization. There is a lot of excitement built around this signing. I have no doubts that his reputation will bring fans to the NYTEX Sports Centre," said Head Coach Dan Wildfong.
Big Snake, a Siksika Nation native and popular youtube.com (video sharing website) icon, spent 67 games last season in the United Hockey League (UHL-now the International Hockey League) with the Rockford IceHogs in Illinois. He recorded 42 points (17 goals, 25 assists) and 330 penalty minutes.
In 2005-06, Big Snake appeared in 66 games and posted 46 points (27 goals, 19 assists) with the IceHogs. The 6’0, 219 pound left winger tallied 423 penalty minutes. Though his scoring made him an offensive threat to opponents, his bold type of play made him a fan favorite.
The Milwaukee Admirals (affiliate of NHL's Nashville Predators) of the American Hockey League (AHL) recognized the 23-year old forward's hard work and called him up in 2005-06 and 2006-07. In 2005 Big Snake was invited to attend the NHL's Detroit Red Wings prospect camp.
Big Snake has also seen time in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and the Western Hockey League (WHL). With the Owen Sound Attack in the OHL, he netted 35 points (20 goals, 15 assists) and 160 penalty minutes in 48 games.
The powerful enforcer played four seasons in the WHL with the Portland Winter Hawks, Moose Jaw Warriors and the Vancouver Giants. Big Snake collected 48 points (18 goals, 30 assists) and 552 penalty minutes in 159 games.
Big Snake is looking forward to playing with the Texas Brahmas under Head Coach Dan Wildfong.
"I believe Coach Wildfong and I play similar styles. I'm hoping to bring my physical presence and contribute offensively," said Big Snake.
