The Texas Brahmas haved moved forward by adding three players to their roster. Forwards, Mark Carragher, Tristan Fairbarn and Greg McConnell each signed contracts for the 2007-08 season.
The 23-year-old Carragher comes from the University of Southern Maine and collected 130 points (63 goals, 67 assists) in four seasons. He began playing with the Huskies for the 2003 season.
Carragher set the single-season scoring record for the Huskies in the 2006-07 season with 47 points. He was also named on the New England Hockey Writers ECAC East/NESCAC All-Star Team his senior year.
Fairbarn, an Innisfill, Ontario native, comes from Rochester Institute of Technology. Last year he filled the role as Tigers team captain. As a rookie for Rochester in the 2003-04 season, Fairbarn was awarded Co-Rookie of the Year for the ECAC West.
Before playing in college, Fairbarn, 25, played in the Ontario Provincial Junior Hockey League (OPJHL) in 2002 and saw postseason action. He led the Newmarket Hurricanes in scoring (32 goals, 38 assists) and was named the 2001-02 Playoff MVP.
Fairbarn follows his brother, Ryan Fairbarn's footsteps, as he becomes a member of the Texas Brahmas. Ryan was a defenseman for the organization during the 2005-06 campaign.
Prior to signing with the Brahmas, McConnell, 23, played four seasons at Bowdoin University of the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). Last season, McConnell and the Huskies reached the NESCAC Championship for the third straight year.
McConnell, 6’2”, 220, will be a huge presence for the Texas Brahmas. His collegiate career ended with 79 points (36 goals, 43 assists) in 98 games.
Head coach Dan Wildfong trusts that the addition of these young players will add tremendous depth for the Brahmas.
"Each guy has proven to be talented in college, now we are ready to see what they can do for the Brahmas. They will all be valuable assets to the team, and with their determination, the sky is the limit for our organization," said Wildfong. |
