FRISCO, Tex. – The National Hockey League announced today that Dallas Stars goaltender Marty Turco has been named the NHL’s Second Star for the week ending Feb. 3. Detroit’s Pavel Datsyuk and New York Rangers’ Chris Drury were named the First and Third Stars of the Week, respectively. Each Monday, the NHL recognizes three players who delivered the League’s top performances over the preceding week.
Turco will be made available following Dallas’ practice from 11 am – Noon in Frisco and will also conduct a media conference call at 1 pm today (Central). In three games last week following the All-Star Break, Turco went 3-0-0, winning all three games on a road trip to Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. He also collected a 1.67 goals-against-average and a .948 save percentage during the trip, earning First Star of the Game honors on Feb. 2 in Calgary, Second Star on Feb. 1 in Edmonton and Third Star on Jan. 29 in Vancouver. He faced 30-plus shots in all three games. |

The 5-11, 185-pound goaltender has appeared in 40 games this season, posting a 22-11-4 record with a 2.35 goals-against-average and a .910 save percentage. Only Martin Brodeur has more consecutive 30-win seasons (11) among active goalies. Turco entered this season with four straight 30-win campaigns. |
