Don’s first love has always been ice hockey, and after spending time coaching in Nashville, he realized the need for an ice hockey publication similar to those in the northeast and upper Midwest markets.
In August 2004, Don resigned after nearly five years with Amusement Business/Billboard magazine and created the prototype for Center Ice Magazine. The magazine was originally created to fill a glaring hole in media coverage for the sport of ice and inline hockey within the Southeastern District.

The mission of Center Ice Magazine is to fill a glaring hole in media coverage for the sport of ice and inline hockey throughout the southeastern United States. The southeast is considered a non-traditional market but it is the fastest growing district within USA Hockey and is home to the last two Stanley Cup Champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes.
Center Ice Magazine is distributed exclusively throughout Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The magazine is also distributed to selected rinks and retailers throughout California, Ohio, Indiana, Massachusetts, Wisconsin and New York. Our ultimate goal at Center Ice Magazine is to expand to every rink in the country on a slow and controlled growth basis.
We publish once a month with features, league results, tournament results and analysis of players from youth hockey, high school, college (ACHA & NCAA), minor-pro (SPHL, CHL, ECHL & AHL) and the NHL whose teams fall within the Southeastern District which we haved dubbed the “Southern Seven”.
Our distribution is extremely targeted. The magazine is being systematically placed in all ice rinks and inline rinks; sports bars, sporting outlets and specific high-traffic locations frequented by our readers…your customers!
Center Ice Magazine is a FREE publication and is currently distributed in over 160 ice and inline rinks with another 100+ hockey-friendly retail outlets and we are continually adding more every month!
For those interested in advertising with Center Ice Magazine and reaching this lucrative and relatively untapped market, please call the main office to contact an account executive in your area.
